A Study on Tense Errors by Thai Learners Through Corpus Analysis
This study aims to analyze the tense error patterns of Thai learners of Korean by examining both written and spoken corpus. Data analysis from the Korean language learner corpus revealed that errors with prefinal and adnominal endings frequently occur across all proficiency levels. Omission errors in past tense prefinal endings were most common among beginners, while replacement errors appeared more often in present and future tense expressions. Intermediate learners struggled with tense consistency in complex sentences, and advanced learners faced challenges with relative tense distinctions. These findings highlight the need for tailored instructional methods to address these errors, providing structured, proficiency-appropriate education to help Thai learners overcome these challenges.
