Simulation of a Single-Phase Bidirectional DC-AC Converter Using Hysteresis Current Control Method with DC Bus Voltage Regulation Based on Fuzzy Logic
The energy transition to new renewable energy (RNE) is becoming inevitable with rapid technological development. One is the development of electric vehicle technology with the Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) concept that allows vehicles to transfer power back to the grid when needed. For this, a DC-AC bidirectional converter is required that is capable of flowing power in two directions, in both rectifier and inverter operating modes. The topology used is a Single Phase Full-Bridge Current-Controlled Voltage Source Inverter (CC- VSI) with hysterical current control method and Fuzzy Logic-based voltage regulation. The study aims to analyze the characteristics of the operating mode as well as the response of the system. To obtain the result to keep the voltage of the DC bus at the nominal value, a combination of load/ current injection against the corresponding reference current is required. The hysterical signal frequency range is obtained to match the design and simulation in the frequencies of 7.5-15 kHz. The rectifier mode is characterized by the phase difference between the AC current and its voltage. Instead, the inverter mode has the same phase between the two. The fuzzy logic voltage regulation allows the stability of the DC bus awake in the presence of dynamic change of load/ inj ection of current with a sufficiently fast system response at settling times ranging from 1–4 seconds.
