IngressMapper: Managing Access to Edge Resources
Cloud technologies are continuously evolving and applied to a wide range of services. Cloud technologies enable the provisioning of resources and management of federated resources. Kubernetes is one of the most famous implementations of those technologies, and by applying the overlay network concept, it can provide a managed cluster of resources. To identify and access the application that is deployed on a resource, it provides DNS-like services within the cluster so that each Pod can be identified, and to access the resource from the outside of the cluster, it provides a Services resource which provides port mapping. Also, it provides APIs such as Ingress or Gateway and supports many kinds of Ingress Controller implementations. This paper proposes a method to automatically configure rules for Ingress Resource, so to provide an intuitive access point to the deployed Pod on edge resources. The proposed method collects information on the Pod with Kubernetes APIs, and then configures the rule for Ingress Resource. The proposed method can be helpful in identifying and managing resources where small sets of specific applications are deployed, such as smart farm or smart factory..
