Smart Home Robot Based on 3D LiDAR and Depth Camera Technology
As the problem of population aging becomes increasingly prominent, smart home robots are gradually gaining attention as intelligent assistants for the elderly. However, although there are already many smart home robots on the market, most of them are equipped with 2D LiDAR and high-precision cameras, which can only handle navigation and obstacle avoidance in simple environments. Due to the lack of depth information, traditional smart robots often encounter serious issues such as inaccurate positioning, limited environmental perception capabilities, and even loss of control when faced with complex environments and unexpected situations. To address these issues. This paper introduces a smart robot named “Huishou,” equipped with the ROS2 operating system, Nav2 navigation system, and deep learning Yolov8 algorithm. It provides personalized services such as timed reminders and security monitoring. With advanced Livox-Mid-360 3D LiDAR sensors and an Intel D435i depth camera, it realizes precise localization, navigation, and intelligent security monitoring, improving home safety and promoting the development of the smart home industry.
