Table-Based Asymmetric Coil Design Method for High Misalignment Tolerance

Wireless Power Transfer (WPT), as an innovative method of electric power transmission, can effectively improve the convenience and safety of power supply methods. This paper concentrates on the research of the anti-misalignment characteristics of coupling mechanism in WPT systems and proposes a high misalignment tolerance asymmetric coil design method based on table-based approach. Taking square coils as an example, this method initially investigates the relationship between coil dimensions and the coupling coefficient, then deriving several generalized principles. Based on this, a generalized coupling mechanism design process is proposed, which significantly reduces the volume of finite element simulations. Finally, a set of coupling mechanisms with high anti-misalignment performance is designed utilizing this method. The improved anti-misalignment characteristics of coupling mechanism confirm the effectiveness and applicability of this method.
