Analysis of Weather Changes on the Performance of On-Grid Solar Power Plants at the Qosim Al-Hadi Islamic Boarding School, Mijen, Semarang
PV Generators are currently in high demand as a substitute for electricity usage from the State Electricity Company (PLN). However, PV Generator performance is uncertain due to weather influences. This paper discusses the relationship between weather changes and PV performance at the Qosim AI-Hadi Islamic Boarding School in Mijen, Semarang City. Weather data were obtained from secondary sources provided by the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency, with October representing the rainy season and January representing the dry season. Four weather variables were considered: air temperature, humidity, rainfall, and the duration of sun shines. This weather data were then correlated with primary data from the installed PV Generator system, including current in amperes (A) and electrical power in kW. The results of the statistical analysis show that the average electric current generated in the dry season is 4.46 A, while in the rainy season, it averages 2.81 A. Meanwhile, the power generated during the dry and rainy seasons averages 1.11 kW and 0.53 kW, respectively. These results indicate that the efficiency of the PV Generator decreases by 47.7% during the rainy season. This reduction is due to the minimal sunlight exposure during the rainy season, as it is often obstructed by clouds.
