Design and Implementation of a Student Accommodation Application Using Ionic Framework and AWS

This document presents a comprehensive overview of the development process for a student accommodation application named “Digs,” designed to address the accommodation needs of students. The application was built using the Ionic 3 framework, integrated with AWS services for backend support, and leverages MongoDB for data storage. The presentation tier of the app includes features such as user registration, password recovery, a dynamic side menu, and various listing pages for properties and rooms. The application allows users to browse, search, and create ads for accommodation, as well as interact with a message board for communication. Styling and user interface considerations were central to the design, employing a clean and simplistic aesthetic with a purple-and-white color scheme. The deployment strategy involved hosting on AWS and configuring servers for data and image management. The application was evaluated for robustness, scalability, and alignment with objectives, revealing successful outcomes in meeting project goals. Limitations were identified, including challenges in achieving a native look and feel and restrictions in testing on Apple devices. Future development plans include business development, additional feature enhancements, and expanding the application to other platforms.
