Comprehensive Economic Benefits Evaluation of Green Power Development in Inner Mongolia

Inner Mongolia's abundant green energy resources offer significant potential for economic growth. However, further research is necessary to determine the most effective policy designs to maximise the economic benefits of these resources. This study examines the impact of green energy development on economic growth in Inner Mongolia under various policy scenarios. Using a Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model, the study simulates five distinct policy scenarios: carbon pricing, green electricity subsidies, increased wind and solar power capacity, enhanced electrification rates, and a comprehensive policy package. The analysis evaluates changes in electricity consumption and GDP across various industries under each scenario. The findings indicate that green energy, particularly wind and solar power, plays a pivotal role in driving economic growth. Energy-intensive sectors, including metal smelting, manufacturing, and transportation, show sub-stantial economic gains across all scenarios, with the comprehen-sive policy scenario proving most effective in enhancing economic benefits. Based on these findings, it is recommended that Inner Mongolia implement a comprehensive green energy policy that further promotes renewable energy development and provides targeted support to energy-intensive industries, thereby maximising economic growth and ensuring environmental sustainability.
