MicroFrame: A Multi-Complementary Color-Based Spatial Diversity System for Imperceptible and Robust Screen-Camera Communication

Imperceptible screen-camera communication (SCC) has garnered significant attention due to its ability to allow users to view screen content while seamlessly embedding information within the display. However, existing screen-camera communication technologies often fail to align the camera precisely without supervision, leading to incomplete information capture for decoding. In this paper, we introduce MicroFrame, a novel screen-camera communication method designed to ensure that captured content reliably includes complete information for decoding. Spatial diversity technology is employed to capture complete content. Multi-complementary color techniques are employed to enhance spectrum efficiency and maintain inconspicuous system characteristics. Experimental results demonstrate that at distances less than 1 meter, MicroFrame achieves a transmission rate of 3 kbps with over 90% Region of Interest (ROI) success rate and a Bit Error Rate (BER) on the order of 10-3.
