Near Field and Far Field Mixed Communication Via Rate Splitting Multiple Access
In this paper, we discuss communication between near and far field mixed channel in traditional massive MIMO networks. In this network, space beams are pre-configured to cater to near-field users. We introduce a groundbreaking model, which is a communication model in which users within a distance smaller than Fraunhofer distance use space division Multiple Access (SDMA) and the rest use Rate-Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA) in the case of near and far field mixed channels. A successive convex approximation (SCA) algorithm was proposed to solve a maximizing the minimum rate of user communication problem. The results of this study show that the user rate of RSMA-based near and far field hybrid communication is much higher than that of a single RSMA or a single SDMA, highlighting the synergistic potential of combining SDMA and RSMA to seamlessly adapt to near and far field communication scenarios. In addition, the study shows that augmenting the quantity of base station antennas is able to significantly enhance the massive MIMO systems' rate performance, thus enhancing the proposed method's effectiveness.
