Enhanced Detection of Low-Level Wind Hazards for Urban Air Mobility Using Cycloidal Scanning LiDAR Technology with OOFDMA and Risley Prism Integration
This study introduces a cycloidal scanning LiDAR system that not only enhances urban air mobility (UAM) safety and efficiency but also instills confidence in its ability to detect low-level wind hazards and aerosols. The system, equipped with advanced technologies like Risley prisms, OOFDMA, and DWDMA, has been proven through simulations under various atmospheric conditions to outperform the Velodyne VLS-128 in measurement range, resolution, and detection accuracy. This high-density, detailed data it provides for precise atmospheric analysis enables accurate identification of turbulence and gust conditions, positioning the system as a crucial technology for UAM. It ensures robust real-time environmental monitoring, thereby enhancing the safety of advanced aerial vehicles.
