Research on Interval Speed Control of FIM Based on Electronic Flight Bag(EFB)
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regards the development of ADS-B technology as a foundational step toward implementing “Free Flight”. Similarly, European authorities have proposed the concept of “Free Routing” and consider ADS-B as an effective means to achieve this. Currently, air spacing management remains at a strategic level in China, relying on spacing standards and air traffic control to manage conflicts, thus lacking onboard autonomous spacing capabilities. This paper explores spacing and speed control strategies based on Flight Interval Management (FIM), analyzing control strategies for both single aircraft and multiple aircraft on the same route. The study highlights the importance of the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) as a display platform that provides speed adjustment recommendations to pilots, emphasizing its role in achieving Time-Based Operations (TBO).
