Object Detection-Based Beam Management for Multiuser MIMO Communications

A conventional beam management scheme pre-defines directions of beams within the limited number, leading to beam misalignment and degraded beamforming gain. In this paper, we propose a novel beam management scheme based on object detection techniques. The proposed scheme locates wireless devices and converts positions of the devices into angles which are used for beamforming. Therefore, we can accurately align the beams using the obtained angles, enhancing the data rate. Simulation results show that our proposed scheme outperforms the conventional beam management.

Abstract

A conventional beam management scheme pre-defines directions of beams within the limited number, leading to beam misalignment and degraded beamforming gain. In this paper, we propose a novel beam management scheme based on object detection techniques. The proposed scheme locates wireless devices and converts positions of the devices into angles which are used for beamforming. Therefore, we can accurately align the beams using the obtained angles, enhancing the data rate. Simulation results show that our proposed scheme outperforms the conventional beam management.
