Multi-Scenario U6G Channel Measurement and Angular Characterization
The upper 6 GHz (U6G) band in the frequency range of 6425–7125 MHz or even wider, has been proposed for research and application in future International Mobile Telecommunication services, which is also expected to be incorporated with the sixth-generation (6G) mobile communication system due to its capabilities of extensive coverage and wide bandwidth. In the paper, we measure and analyze the power angle spectrum (PAS) and root mean square (RMS) angular spread (AS) of the U6G channel based on the constructed multi-channel channel sounder in typical scenarios, including indoor hall, indoor corridor, outdoor and outdoor-to-indoor (O2I). Observations reveal that the PAS of the U6G channel exhibits a dominant path with several multipath components, confirming that the scattering in the U6G frequency band is limited and exhibits sparse characteristics when the line-of-sight link exists. In addition, we also verify the non-stationary characteristics of the U6G channel by analyzing the angle-domain parameters of the virtual array.
