Integrating Big Data Governance and Corporate Strategies in Small and Medium Caspian Basin Seaports
This study investigates how stakeholders can integrate Big Data governance with corporate strategies in small and medium seaports in the Caspian Basin. The research uses a qualitative approach featuring semi-structured interviews with port executives, regulatory authority experts, and strategists. The data analysis reveals essential elements for successful integration, including stakeholder involvement, continuous training, effective communication, and collaboration. Based on the findings, the Structured Data Alignment Framework (SDAF) is developed, providing a six-step guideline: understanding corporate strategy, establishing a governance framework, integrating Big Data strategy, fostering communication and collaboration, building capacity through training, and ensuring continuous improvement. The study highlights that strategic alignment and robust data governance practices enhance operational efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability, contributing to regional economic growth and environmental sustainability. Future research should focus on refining these themes and exploring the long-term impacts of Big Data integration in the maritime sector. The SDAF offers practical guidance for seaport managers and stakeholders, ensuring that digitalization efforts align with strategic objectives and drive positive social change.
