IIoT Network Planning and Coverage Analysis Considering Blockage Effects
Industrial internet of things (IIoT) is a promising scenario for industry applications, where the existence of rich blockages can affect the communication quality and is worth consideration when it comes to network planning. In this paper, a tractable model based on stochastic geometry is proposed to provide coverage analysis for IIoT networks, in which blockage effects are considered. The line-of-sight (LoS) probability, the association between devices and access points (APs), and the effects of interference are analyzed. As a result, the coverage probability is derived to assess the network performance and is verified through Monte Carlo simulations. The effects of AP density, blockage attenuation, blockage density, blockage height, and AP height on coverage probability are presented through numerical simulations, providing a guideline for AP deployment.
