A dialética da demofobia em Florestan Fernandes: entre democracia forte e autocracia burguesa
This article investigates the shift in Florestan Fernandes' sociological approaches to themes directly related to politics, since his reflections on fascism in Latin America, the autocratic-bourgeois model of capitalist transformation and the important course on authoritarianism, at PUC-SP. Therefore, we suggest that Fernandes presented to the public and intellectual debate theories that assess the barriers to democratization in Brazil. Emerges in his texts a strong democracy, restricted, which routinely adopts authoritarianism, characterized by what some contemporary theorists conceptualize as demophobia.
