Is The Fasciculated Hackethal Procedure Still Current for the Surgical Treatment of Fractures of The Humeral Diaphysis ? Report of a Series of Cases.
Humerus fractures are ranked third among traumatic injuries of the upper limb. Doctor Hackethal described his surgical technique in 1961which consisted of centromedullary pinning. This method has generated numerous publications regarding its indications, its limits and especially the final functional result. We report six cases of aseptic armed nonunion of the humeral shaft treated initially by a Hackethal pinning. We tried to look for the causes of failure with an answer to the question: is Hackethal fasciculated pinning still part of the therapeutic arsenal for a fracture of the humeral shaft?
