This article constitutes a record of the reading of the poetry book Dymy nad miastem written by Władysław Broniewski in 1926. This article is based on the book materiality. The analysis covers the entirety of the book – poetry, the cover, the fonts, type of paper, even the biography of individual copies. The cover was designed by Mieczysław Szczuka and this fact sets the tone for the interpretation. The photomontage on the cover provokes reflection on socio-political situation of Poland in the interwar period as well as on the place of this poetry book in the discussion on Polish revolutionary poetry in the 20th century.
