The theory of institutional matrices by S.G. Kirdina as an object of methodological analysis
This article is a methodological analysis of the strategic plan of S.G. Kirdina's theory, expressed in the book “Institutional Matrices and the Development of Russia: an Introduction to X-Y Theory”. Kirdina's theory is considered as a response to the challenge of the negative aspects of Russia's modernization in the 90s (and more generally, as a response to the challenge of the negative aspects of modernization in all non-Western countries). Responding to this challenge, Kirdina argues for the existence of institutional matrices in societies that define the strategic nature of their development. It can be said that societies are condemned to their institutional matrices. The author of the article sees this as a serious methodological flaw. Its essence is that the system of basic concepts implied in thinking about society is built in advance according to the logic of institutional matrices. The conceptual space collapses in this case. The author shows how it is possible to move in the opposite direction and draws the corresponding conceptual space so that the number of dimensions in it is maximum. This makes it possible for a more three-dimensional view. The author strives to show the factors that influence the understanding of the Russian and global situation.
