Spot Market Clearing Method Including Unit Commitment
In recent years, as a global trend, the electricity market has achieved a balance between electricity supply and demand. In Japan, the main electricity markets are the day-ahead spot market and the reserve market. Currently, the existence of these two markets has resulted in a shortage of supply and reserve power. Therefore, we have created a model of the basic electricity market, which allows us to procure supply and reserve power and then analyzed the impact of the interaction between these two markets on ensuring the reliable operation of the power system. In previous studies, we clarify that clearing results for the spot market and reserve market can fail to satisfy the physical constraints of generators. In this paper, we propose the spot market clearing method including unit commitment and analyze the impact of the spot market considering generator constraints on the procurement of supply power. The results show that generator constraints are satisfied in market clearing results considering upper and lower output limits, start-up and shutdown states. However, it also finds that the retailer's cost of procuring supply power increased.
