How Business Trust Helps a Small Firm
Between entrepreneurs, just as in human relationships, it is a lot of work to develop a mutual trust. More and more organizations are recognizing trust as an important soft resource. We looked at the role of trust in the business world, how suppliers perceive trust in general and how they perceive trust in a partnership with a specific company. We further investigated the factors that make a trusting relationship between two businesses successful. Our aim was to explore the dimensions and main characteristics of consumer trust. Smaller businesses are perhaps even more dependent on good business relationships. In our research we used in-depth interviews as part of qualitative methodology, a uniquely sensitive and powerful method to get to know the experiences of the subjects and the participants in their everyday world. With this qualitative method we investigated the business relationships of a retail company in terms of trust. The reliable functioning of the focal organization and its good communication have after a while borne the fruit of trust, which now provides a good basis for further cooperation.
