Application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for Optimizing Project Planning and Scheduling

This article explores the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for optimizing project planning and scheduling in the construction industry. The integration of BIM into project management processes is viewed as a critical step in addressing existing issues, such as prolonged project timelines, rising costs, and a shortage of skilled labor. The paper examines the process of implementing BIM technology in construction, covering all key phases of the construction project life cycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closure. The study outlines the main stages of the construction project life cycle and the methods employed, including literature analysis and case studies. The results demonstrate that the use of BIM can significantly reduce project timelines and minimize the risk of errors. The work also discusses recent developments in Kazakhstan regarding the use of BIM systems, which are referred to locally as TIMSO (Technologies for Information Modeling in Construction Objects). However, broader implementation requires process standardization, specialist training, and the development of a legal framework. The article emphasizes the need for a comprehensive strategy to integrate BIM into construction projects to enhance the industry's competitiveness and efficiency.
