O różnicach i podobieństwach w zakresie użycia i znaczenia przymiotników niemoralny i nieetyczny (na przykładzie połączeń z wybranymi rzeczownikami)

The study aims to verify whether the adjectives niemoralny ‘immoral’ and nieetyczny ‘unethical’ are considered synonyms by Polish speakers. The analysis was carried out based on material excerpted from the MoncoPL corpus, which consisted of sentences containing combinations of the adjectives niemoralny/nieetytyczny with the nouns czyn ‘act’, działanie ‘action’, postępowanie ‘activity’ and zachowanie ‘behaviour’ (2,239 in total). During the research, an attempt was made to divide these concordances into thematic classes and arrange them according to their frequency of occurrence. The analyses showed that in relation to financial dishonesty and fraud in interpersonal relations, the adjectives studied are used interchangeably. When talking about moral issues, language users choose the term niemoralny, and when the sentence concerns breaking the rules of professional conduct, they opt for the adjective nieetyczny.
