Message from the President of Indian Psychiatric Society
Dear Colleagues, It is with great pleasure that I extend my warm regards to all the esteemed members of the Indian Psychiatric Society and contributors to this Clinical Practice Guidelines Supplement. The theme, “Cognition in Neuropsychiatric Disorders and Management of Long-Stay Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Disorder Patients,” reflects the pressing need to address these critical yet often overlooked aspects of psychiatric practice. Cognitive dysfunction is a common but underappreciated feature of many neuropsychiatric disorders, significantly impacting the quality of life and functional outcomes of our patients. Similarly, the management of long-stay psychiatric and substance abuse disorder patients remains a complex challenge, demanding a holistic and compassionate approach. These issues call for evidence-based interventions, multidisciplinary collaboration, and a deeper understanding of the socio-cultural dynamics unique to our settings. As we advance in our clinical and research endeavors, it is crucial to stay informed of the latest evidence and innovations that guide our practices. These Clinical Practice Guidelines serves as an invaluable resource, offering comprehensive guidelines and insights that will not only enhance clinical outcomes but also foster a patient-centered approach to care. I specially compliment Dr. Shiv Gautam sir, who has been doing this beautiful work for so many years, as well as Dr. Manaswi Gautam for his efforts in the implementation of the program. I commend the dedicated team of contributors, editors, and reviewers for their tireless efforts in compiling this document. Let us continue to strive for excellence in psychiatric care, with a commitment to learning, compassion, and service. Warm regards,
