THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP MODULE ON SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP PRACTICES AMONG PUBLIC UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN EDUCATION-FOCUSED UNIVERSITIES

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using a Social Entrepreneurship Module on social entrepreneurship practices among students in education-focused universities. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, applying a pre-test and post-test technique with control and treatment groups. For the control group, traditional teaching and learning methods were implemented. In contrast, the treatment group underwent teaching and learning facilitated by the Social Entrepreneurship Module. A total of 140 students were selected as research subjects using purposive sampling, comprising 112 students in the control group and 128 in the treatment group. These students were enrolled in the Culture of Entrepreneurship course for Semester 2, 2022/2023, at the undergraduate level in education-focused universities. The findings revealed a significant difference in the mean scores of social entrepreneurship practices between the pre-test and post-test for the control group, with t(111), p=<0.00)=-4.232, p<0.005. Similarly, the results showed a significant difference in the mean scores for the treatment group, with t(127), p=<0.00)=-18.520, p<0.005. The study empirically proves that the effective use of the Social Entrepreneurship Module in teaching and learning enhances students’ social entrepreneurship practices in terms of sociality, innovation, and market orientation. Therefore, the use of the Social Entrepreneurship Module is recommended as an effective learning tool in teaching courses related to social entrepreneurship to foster social entrepreneurship practices among university students.
