A095: Study on the Relationship Between Physical Activity Level andPhysical Fitness

Purpose: To explore the relationship between physical activity and muscle fitness and flexibility fitness in college students, and to provide theoretical basis for promoting physical activity and improving physical fitness. Methods: In this study, 1098 college students from Jiangsu Normal University were selected as participants. The revised Physical Activity Questionnaire for College students was sent to all subjects to investigate the physical activity levels of college students. Male students and female students were divided into three levels respectively, namely T1, T2 and T3, according to the weekly total amount of physical activity. All subjects underwent grip strength and standing long jump tests to evaluate muscle fitness, and sat forward bending to evaluate flexibility fitness. All data were statistically processed using SPSS27.0 data statistical software, and descriptive statistics were expressed using Mean ± standard deviation (SD). The physical activity level index and the difference of grip strength, standing long jump and seated forward bend among groups with different physical activity levels were compared using single factor ANOVA analysis. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between physical activity level and muscle fitness and flexibility fitness. The quantitative relationship between physical activity level and muscle fitness and flexibility fitness of male and female college students was analyzed by linear regression. Results: (1) The grip strength index of male T3 was higher than T1 (P < 0.05), and the standing long jump of male T2 was higher than T1 (P < 0.05); (2) There were no significant differences in the grip strength index of T1, T2 and T3, standing long jump and sitting forward bend of girls (all P > 0.05); (3) Male grip strength index was positively correlated with weekly M-VPA time and weekly total physical activity; The standing long jump of male students had a positive linear correlation with weekly M-VPA time and weekly total physical activity. (4) The one-week MVPA time of male students could predict the grip strength index and standing long jump performance at 24.3% and 9.4% levels, respectively (P < 0.01); The total weekly physical activity of male students predicted the grip strength index and standing long jump performance at 24% and 9.4% levels, respectively (P < 0.01). Conclusion: The grip strength index and standing long jump of male students are related to MVPA time in one week. The intervention of physical activity with moderate intensity should be promoted.
