Participatory Culture and the Convergence of Social Networks: Reflections on Voter Interactions on Youtube
This article examines the changing nature of voter interaction on social networks and its implications for political communication and democratic processes. With the rapid growth of social media platforms, voters are no longer passive recipients of political information, but active participants in shaping public discourse. This study examines the dynamics of voter participation, the dissemination of political content, and the role of social networks in influencing political opinions, behavior, and electoral outcomes. Participatory culture refers to a culture in which individuals actively participate by creating and sharing content, often facilitated by digital technologies. Unlike traditional media, which is largely one-way, participatory culture emphasizes user engagement and interaction. This study examines how the literature discusses voter engagement through participatory culture and the convergence of social networks, and the place of Youtube as a video-sharing website in these debates.
