Abstract

In this article, immersive learning is considered as a factor of increasing the readiness of future teachers to carry out professional activities: their level of development of all types of speech skills increases, learning is productive, the process of involvement in foreign language communication promotes orientation towards pedagogical activity. Turning to innovative digital technologies corresponds to the spirit of the times and social order of society, allows organizing work using authentic materials taking into account the level of complexity, develops critical thinking of students. Immersion in virtual reality makes it possible to use various forms of work, creatively approach the process of teaching a foreign language and develop methodological materials that are authentic in accordance with the set goals and objectives, and create the effect of immersion and presence in the country of the studied language. On the other hand, such training is practice-oriented, equips future teachers with methodological tools that satisfy modern requirements. The authors note that immersive learning allows for a creative approach to the process of developing productive speech skills, using such forms of work as contacting a voice assistant, making a phone call to obtain information; authentic materials on various Internet platforms can be used to develop all types of reading and listening skills; such types of tasks as filling out forms, questionnaires, registering on websites, writing and posting a resume are suitable for developing writing skills. The use of VR glasses (visiting an immersive cinema) allows students to immerse themselves in “reality” and affect all senses. The goal of this form of work is to activate the students' cognitive interest, develop their emotional sphere and creative abilities. Thus, the integration of immersive learning into the traditional educational process, according to the authors, gives the learning process an authentic character, allows future teachers to become full participants in foreign language communication, try on various social roles. All this removes psychological barriers, stimulates the cognitive activity of students, motivates them to further study of foreign language and to use innovative digital technologies in their future professional activities.
