Successful Medical Management of Pediatric Gastroparesis
Pediatric gastroparesis is characterized by delayed gastric empyting in the absence of any mechanical obstruction. This case report describes the successful use of domperidone and erythromycin in managing refractory gastroparesis in a 7-year-old girl. Owing to its rarity and shared symptomatology with other common gastrointestinal conditions, the diagnosis of gastroparesis is often delayed. In resource-limited centers without scintigraphy, the diagnosis may be made based on the clinical features and contrast radiography.
