Le capital de mobilité et la question du choix des modes de transport des dakarois

Abstract. The mobility of people and goods is currently a major challenge in urban development. An indicator of the dynamism shown by modern urban societies, mobility is at the heart of difficult policies in order to allow citizens to move optimally regardless of differences in individual access to mobility. All the physical and financial capacities available to households express their mobility capital. However, a paradox exists between the massive investments linked to public transport policies and the limited nature of the mobility capital of Dakar households. The objective of this article is to analyze the transport choices that households make in relation to the resources available to them. An empirical methodological approach, based on a literature review and field data collection, was used to write the article. Keywords: Mobility capital, Modal choice; Transportation; Dakar
