Synthesis, hardness and tensile behavior of boron carbide reinforced Al6082 alloy composites for automotive applications
The present study aims to synthesise Al6082 alloy including 4 wt. % of tiny B4C particulate in metal matrix composites by liquid metallurgical techniques. Scanning electron microscopy pictures of the synthesised composites were acquired to illustrate the homogeneous distribution of the reinforced micro B4C particles within the matrix. Hardness, tensile, and impact tests were conducted to assess the influence of micro B4C on the mechanical properties of the composites. The hardness, tensile strength, and impact strength of synthesised composites increased with the addition of B4C particles.
