Smart Energy Metering and Load Control using GSM Technology

This research presents a novel smart energy metering system that integrates GSM technology with energy meters to enhance energy management and consumer awareness. The system aims to address issues related to timely payment and energy consumption control. By incorporating GSM technology, the proposed system enables real-time monitoring of energy consumption and sends alerts to users when their prepaid balance is nearing depletion. Additionally, it provides remote control capabilities, allowing users to switch loads on or off remotely. The proposed system has been implemented using a hardware prototype, demonstrating its feasibility and effectiveness. The results indicate that the system can significantly improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs. This research contributes to the development of smart energy solutions that empower consumers to make informed decisions about their energy usage and promote sustainable energy practices.
