Automated Paper Waste Segregation System
Manual paper waste segregation in industries often proves inefficient due to the mixture of dry, wet, and metal waste, leading to errors in recycling and increased costs. In order to overcome these drawbacks, an automated paper waste sorting system has been proposed. The system integrates detector technology and mechanical separation mechanisms. Here IR sensors are used to detect waste which is being carried over a conveyorbelt. When waste is detected, relay activates the conveyor belt, which is powered by a DC motor. The conveyor belt helps to move the waste and a rotating handle-like mechanism aids in separating mixed waste. A fan then separates dry waste from the stream, directing it into a collection bin. Metal waste is sorted using a ring magnet, and any remaining wet waste is dried using a blower. Finally, waste is guided towards designated bins based on type, ensuring proper sorting. This technology enhances waste segregation efficiency, reduces operational costs, and promotes environmental stability.
