Indoor Propagation for Localization Purposes: from Underwater to the Air at 433 MHz
In this study, we propose a pathloss model for electromagnetic (EM) signal propagation through underwater, water/air interface, and air, designed for localization in a swimming pool. In this complex environment, the pathloss model is easy to apply for localization purposes. It depends on complex permittivity and signal frequency, which influence signal attenuation. The model is validated by measuring a signal attenuation underwater, at the air/water interface and in air in a swimming pool. The results show that the measurement slope follows the theoretical pathloss.
