Comparative Analysis of 5 H.P SynRM And FeA-SynRM for EV Applications
The study aims to evaluate the performance characteristics of the Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) and the Ferrite-Assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor (FeA-SynRM), their efficiency, and practical applications, focusing on their advantages and limitations. SynRMs are known for their robust construction and low-cost production. The study analyzes their torque production and efficiency. Including permanent magnets in FeA-SynRM introduces complexities in design and cost but promises improved performance, especially in applications requiring high torque and efficiency. Experimental data and simulation results highlight the operational differences between SynRM and FeA-SynRM which is done with the help of DOE’s (Design Of Experiment). The study discusses the impact of these differences on industrial applications, providing insights into the selection criteria for specific use cases. The findings suggest that while FeA-SynRM offers superior performance in terms of torque and efficiency, SynRMs remain a viable option for applications where cost and simplicity are prioritized. The study concludes with recommendations for future research and development, emphasizing the potential for optimizing both motor types for a wide range of electric vehicle applications..
