Impact of Phase Noise and Dispersion on OFDM Transmission Performance and the Improvement Effects of Pilot Techniques
In modern communication systems, phase noise and dispersion are critical factors that significantly affect the quality of signal transmission. This paper delves into a comprehensive analysis of the impact of phase noise and dispersion on transmission performance, with a particular focus on the bit error rate (BER) performance of various modulation schemes, including Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK), Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK), and 16-level Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (16-QAM). The study meticulously compares the BER performance of these modulation schemes before and after the removal of dispersion, highlighting the importance of effective dispersion management in modern communication systems. Furthermore, the paper explores the enhancement effects of incorporating pilot techniques to mitigate phase noise. This is achieved by varying the pilot signal lengths and insertion intervals, aiming to optimize the overall system performance. To validate the theoretical analysis, a series of MATLAB simulation experiments are conducted, providing empirical evidence to support the findings. The results underscore the critical role of dispersion removal and pilot techniques in improving transmission quality, offering valuable insights for the design and optimization of robust communication systems.
