A Differential Protection of High-Penetration Active Distribution Network Based on Adaptive Braking Coefficient

In order to solve the problem that classical current protection is difficult to apply when a large number of inverter-interfaced distributed generations (IIDGs) are connected to distribution network, A novel scheme of current differential protection based on adaptive braking coefficients is proposed. The protection scheme adapts the braking coefficient based on the phase difference and amplitude ratio of positive-sequence current fault components on both ends of the protected line. The simulation results in PSCAD show that compared with classical differential protection scheme, the proposed protection scheme effectively meets the protection requirements of active distribution networks across various fault scenarios, offering high sensitivity, reliability, and resistance to transition resistance.
