Research on the Capability of Electric Vehicles Participating in Ramping Ancillary Services

This paper studies the reserve capacity provided by Electric Vehicle (EV) aggregators in the ramping ancillary service market. Considering the uncertain charging behavior and energy demand of EVs, an optimization decision-making model for charging power and reporting ramping capacity of EV aggregators is built. Firstly, considering the risk of insufficient ramping capability response after the EV aggregators are called or the inability to meet charging demand of EVs, a risk cost assessment method based on conditional value at risk is proposed to balance the benefit and risk of providing reserves by EV aggregators, and an optimized model aiming at benefit maximization is built. Secondly, the characteristics and advantages of EV aggregators providing ramping ancillary services under different application scenarios are compared and analyzed based on a simulation example, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed model.
