A Commutation Torque Ripple Suppression Strategy for Brushless DC Motor Based on an Improved Zeta Converter
With the rapid advancement in the field of automation, the control precision requirements for brushless DC motors in electromechanical equipment are continuously increasing. To address the issue of commutation torque ripple in current brushless DC motors, this paper proposes a suppression strategy by integrating an improved Zeta converter into the brushless DC motor driver. During the commutation process, the improved Zeta converter operates in boost mode, adjusting the DC bus voltage to match four times the back electromotive force amplitude. This effectively reduces commutation torque fluctuations. During non-commutation periods, the connection of a capacitor in the circuit structure of the Zeta converter to the DC bus results in the input voltage of the three-phase bridge being higher than the DC power supply voltage, which helps reduce the required rating of the DC power supply. Comparative simulation analysis verifies that this method effectively suppresses commutation torque ripple in the brushless DC motor and significantly enhances the performance of the motor driver.
