Towards Loss Sentivity-based Energy Storage Contol Method for Loss Reduction in Distribution Networks

With the high proportion of photovoltaic (PV) power generation access, the line loss problem of the distribution network has become one of the focuses of grid enterprises. Increased progress in advanced energy storage systems makes energy storage control a promising tool to improve the operation of the distribution system with PV s since energy storage can be applied for load leveling and reducing system losses. Currently, most methods for power loss reduction are based on the analysis of power flow calculation, which may lack efficiency and flexibility. Therefore, a novel energy storage control method based on the sensitivity of power losses is proposed in this paper. The proposed method has the advantage of low complexity to compute the value of energy storage control for reducing system losses in the distribution system. The performance of the proposed energy storage control approach is evaluated on the IEEE 33 distribution system, demonstrating that the proposed method is effective in reducing power losses without the computational complexity of power flow calculation.
