Channel Prediction Strategy for 3GPP Release 18 Enhanced Type-II Doppler Codebook
The paper introduces the latest Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) codebook specified within the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). It relies on channel prediction and precoder compression in the Doppler domain at the UE for better up-to-date CSI provisioning at the Base Station. A channel prediction strategy in the angle-delay domain is detailed together with a novel physical layer abstraction needed for precoder selection. Monte Carlo simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the Rel. 18 codebook with respect to the UE speed in terms of tradeoff between performance enhancement and feedback overhead increase.
