Open-Circuit Fault Ride-Through Strategy of a High-Frequency-Bus Based Multi-Active Bridge Converter with Decentralized Control

With the high penetration of various distributed energy sources and DC loads in modern power systems, multi-port converters have received extensive attention due to their bidirectional conversion and port isolation functions. Among them, the power converter with a high-frequency-bus structure based on the multi-active bridge (MAB) circuit has apparent advantages in the application of AC / DC hybrid systems due to its few transformation links and high power density. In practical applications, the blocking removal caused by sub-module open-circuit faults or other types of faults will cause transient impacts on non-fault modules, which in turn will cause system security problems. In order to ensure the stable operation of the power converter, this paper proposes an integral compensation fault ride-through strategy based on decentralized control. Its essence is to control the adaptive adjustment process of the sub-module by compensating the shift angle. The simulation results show that this strategy can suppress the transient impact of voltage and current after open-circuit faults to ensure the safe operation of non-fault ports.
