High Step-Up Bridgeless Converters for Energy Harvesting Applications

Energy harvesting scavengers collect the environmental energy sources into the power electronic devices for energy storage, which help wireless sensor nodes (WSNs) feedback signals to achieve the Internet of Things (IoTs). However, the environmental energy source generators usually offer only very low AC output voltages, requiring a high step-up AC-DC converter for power conversion. Thus, this paper proposes a high step-up AC-DC topology family, which can have a bridgeless operation to further avoid the voltage and power loss in the circuits. Then, one specific circuit is focused on. Operation modes and voltage ratio between input and output are analyzed. Finally, the simulations are presented to validate the feasibility and correctness of the proposed circuit.
