Sliding-Mode Based Control Technique for Triple Active Bridge DC-DC Converter
Due to the capability of interfacing various energy sources, storage units and loads, multiport converters (MPCs) are increasingly being considered in distribution system applications. There exist several topologies of MPC being Triple Active bridge (TAB) one of the most relevant. This paper deals with the design of sliding mode control (SMC) for TAB DC-DC converter has been proposed based on reduced order model. In order to built this model, topology-level power decoupling method has been used and the current transformer dynamics has been ignored. Two sliding-control laws have been proposed to regulate output voltages and to control the power flows between the three ports in order to balance the total power. The proposed controller was tested and validated using Matlab/Simulink. It is shown that the designed controller guarantees an efficient power flow sharing and an accurate reference voltage tracking, and it proves a good robustness when the DC-bus voltage and loads are disturbed. Finally, The performance of the designed SMC is compared with conventional PI control. The comparison shows that TAB DC-DC converter under SMC has better dynamic performance and good robustness against sudden load change.
