Performance Evaluation of Hybrid Satellite-Terrestrial Relaying Broadcast Networks Using Fountain Codes and NOMA
In this article, we propose a hybrid satellite-terrestrial relaying (HSTR) network that combines Fountain codes (FCs) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA). In the proposed scheme, a satellite employs the NOMA technique to simultaneously transmit two Fountain packets to two clusters of terrestrial users, with the assistance of a terrestrial station. All terrestrial users attempt to collect a sufficient number of Fountain packets to reconstruct the desired data. We derive exact expressions of outage probability (OP) of two clusters and system OP (SOP), and then conduct simulations to verify this expression. This paper also investigates the impact of power allocation factors on the OP and SOP performance.
