Analysis of Short Circuit Currents in Large Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator: Dynamic and Simplified Models
The paper proposes dynamic and simplified models for calculating three-phase short circuit currents of large permanent magnet generator directly connected to the grid. These models are derived by modifying the dynamic model of permanent magnet synchronous motor to account for direct grid connection and generator loading prior to fault. The applicability of the analyzed models is demonstrated through a series of computer simulations using parameters from a large 5 MVA permanent magnet synchronous generator installed at HPP “Bočac 2”, near the city of Banja Luka.
