Photocatalytic Removal of Organic Pollutants from Aqueous Solution Using Centimetre-Scale Iron (III) Oxide Monolith
The centimetre-sized iron (III) oxide monoliths were successfully prepared via nano casting method from silica. The catalysts have been characterized using techniques like X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. Organic pollutants, i.e., rhodamine B (RhB) and Remazol red RB (RR), were removed from the aqueous solution using synthesized monolithic catalysts. It showed the maximum degradation efficiency for RhB (82.1%) and RR (99.4%) in 150 min, under visible light irradiation. Moreover, the monolith was reused for five catalytic cycles and obtained promising results.
