In Vitro Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Evaluation of Ultrasonically Synthesized 2-Amino-3-Cyano-4H-Chromene Derivatives
Ubiquitous attention has recently been drawn to the widespread usage of biologically potent drugs. This research demonstrated antimicrobial and antioxidant screening of synthesized 2-Amino-3-cyano-4H-chromene derivatives using Fe3O4@SGO, an eco-friendly and magnetically recoverable nanocatalyst. Synthesis of derivatives was performed by means of a one-pot, three-component domino Knoevenagel-Michael condensation reaction with aldehydes, malononitrile, as well as α-naphthol/ resorcinol/ β–naphthol under the influence of ultrasonication technique using H2O: EtOH (1:1) solvent. Employing the agar well diffusion method, all the produced compounds were evaluated for their in-vitro antimicrobial activities counter to various species of microorganisms, including gram-positive (S. aureus) and gram-negative bacteria (E. coli) as well as fungi (C. albicans, F. oxysporum). Compounds 4n and 4p exhibited good antibacterial results, and compounds 4a, 4c, 4i, and 4l showed excellent antifungal outcomes compared to standard reference drugs. The antioxidant assay was estimated using DPPH method, and compounds 4k and 4n exhibited outstanding performance.
