Evaluating the Correlation between MQ Gas Sensors with Temperature and Humidity Sensor on an Outdoor Setting

This study focuses on evaluating the correlation between gas sensors and temperature and humidity, which are environmental factors that can affect the performance of gas sensors. A device was developed integrating the MQ sensors namely MQ2, MQ3, MQ4, MQ5, MQ6, MQ7, MQ8, MQ9, MQ135, and MQ 137 that have integrated temperature and humidity sensors, during both dry and wet seasons. Reading from the device will be collected for the analysis of the correlations. The researchers analyzed the collected data using MATLAB software to determine the correlation between the sensors and to identify which algorithms provided the most accurate results. The result shows that sensors including MQ2, MQ5, MQ6, MQ7, and MQ8, have a high negative correlation with temperature. In contrast, other sensors show only a weak positive correlation, such as MQ3 and MQ9. Notably, MQ135 has a strong positive correlation with temperature, whereas MQ137 shows a significant negative correlation. On the other hand the correlation of the gas sensors shows a weak negative correlation with the humidity.
